SEMESTER PROJECT "Active Lifestyle": THe Villain Me

This casual RTW collection „The villain me – the will in me“ for S/S 2015 was inspired by the dark side: the villains. The outfits represent their characteristics like strength, freedom, power and a fighting spirit and standing out through bright signal colours and deconstructed oversized shapes. 

I was generally inspired by comics. But thinking of villains that are mostly inspiring cause they don't have a typical villain uniform and are highly grifted and intelligent, I chose „The Joker“ from Batman (DC comics) and „Mystique“ (Marvel Comics). I want to give the comic villains space to be noticed next to the highly praised super heroes.

The outfits consist of functional oversize elements that are combined with swimwear. Wide shapes and tight bodysuits contrast freedom, strength and athleticism. Therefore, materials lycra, selfmade neoprenlike fabric (jersey glued on evazote foam) and nets are utilised.

Patterns are definitely playing the biggest part in this collection. Using a collage technique, the heads of Joker and Mystique are imitated to have a placement print. There heads are then used again to create an overall print by distorting those and collage them again.
