SEMESTER PROJECT "WANDERLUST": Per-Z

It's the 20.04.1925. Percy Fawcett started his journey into the deep jungle, searching for "the lost city of Z" in the Amazonas. His vague plans didn't promise a lot of success and after a few weeks, his wife didn't receive any letters anymore. Till today, nobody found Fawcett or "Z". Rumour has it that he was assasinated by a native amazonian tribe.
The RTW A/W 2015/16 collection "Per-Z" is inspired by this story of the expedition, the indigenous tribe Yanomami and their body modification and the thrill of an adventure in a hostile environment.
The colours are definitely influenced by tropical flora, but especially the print should reflect the marvellous colourful animals, in this case it refers to a frog "Dendrobatidae". To imitate the wet surface, many fabrics are glossy, shiny and wet-looking. Some of the fabrics are already water repellant. Those who aren't are impregnated with a spray afterwards, for example a strechy silk satin or jersey fabrics that guarantee mobility and comfort while the used Parachutenylon, Ripstop and Polymid is already really durable and waterproof.
The biggest design aspect in this collection
are wooden sticks and elastic bands that
shape the clothes themselves, inspired by
the Yanomami. These sticks are also
removable, making the clothes multi usable.
With this technique, it is also possible to
create voluminous bags as you can see in
the drawings above.
