SEMESTER PROJECT "Spirit oF UTOPIA": STOMATA

With this S/S 14 collection "STOMATA" I want to display the increasing threat to our planet, especially the "earth's green lungs" - the jungle and the forrests.

I was inspired by microscopic pictures of cros sections of different leaves I did for my technichal work back in school during my A-levels. As they would normally be just green, I used colorant to see the different cell structures better. this gave me this colorful patterns that are used as prints just as an inspiration for the shapes and silhouettes.

This avantgardistic collection is furthermore made from recycled plastic and printed gluable plastic foil, trying to make a difference and preserve nature. Besides the PVC, I also used other rubbish like pieces of broken glass, carbon foam pieces or deconstructed crown caps. The highlight are flexible PVC-tubes and packages that are filled with coloured water. These 3D-Elements are not only an artisitc statement but furthermore also poitning out the relationship to plants: for photosynthesis, water is an essential element.
